However, unfortunately for them, they fell asleep in a close by village, Balle, where they were killed.
“The terrorists were more than 15 in number and they sneaked into Alau around 1am and killed four people. We suspect that it was a planned attack,” a fisherman, Yusuf Dan Ruwa, said according to Daily Trust.
Another source stated that the vigilantes had gone after the terrorists when they got wind of the attack.
“While the people of Alau were grieving over the incident, local hunters and vigilantes from Maiduguri, who got wind of the attack went after the suspects,” the source, who chose to remain anonymous, said.
“And luckily enough, the vigilantes waylaid the attackers at Balle and killed all of them,” he added.
This comes as a group of Boko Haram members disguised as preachers launched an attack on Kwajafa village, also in Borno, leaving 24 people dead.
